2018 IN REVIEW
The staff at S&W are very lucky to have so many social events through out the year. 2018 was no different, we had Lawn Bowls, Jet Boating, Seafood cooking class at the Sydney Fish Markets, completed the JP Morgan run to name a few.
And most importantly we all celebrated the 80th birthday of our founding Partner Bill Stanley.

STAFF SAY THANKS – 2017
Each year the staff at Stanley & Williamson like to show the Partners how much we enjoy working here and appreciate everything they do for us during the year.
This year we bought tickets to walk the Sydney Tower. It is 268m above sea level and they got to enjoy fabulous view of our beautiful city.
On Friday 16 December the S&W team celebrated Christmas. The theme this year was Dead Celebs, with Jodee/Cleopatra, Louisa/Marie Antoinette and Ben/John Belushi winning best dressed. Close runners up were Michael/Freddie Mercury, Darren/Chopper Read and Helen/Audrey Hepburn.
We then ventured to Sydney’s Northern Beaches for a scrumptious meal at the Pantry.
JP Morgan Corporate Challenge
On Wednesday 9 November, eleven of our team members braved the elements to compete the JP Morgan Corporate Challenge.
The standout performer on the night was Ashleigh, completing the 5.6km run in just 26.04 minutes, smashing her last year’s effort by 2.09 minutes.
Other notable performances went to Ben, Quang, Rachel and Sandy, and congratulations go to everyone else who competed.
Happy New (Financial) Year!
On Friday 01 July, the entire S&W team made it to the Oyster Bar at Circular Quay to celebrate the New Financial Year and look back at he year that was.
Last Friday (03 June) the S&W team braved the elements to see the sights of Sydney’s Vivid festival. We cruised the harbour in style, lapping up the breathtaking lights (and breeze).
If you haven’t had a chance to visit Vivid yet, we recommend a trip into town. The festival ends on 18 June.
The Great Race
On Thursday 28 April we held our annual Great Race. We were divided into teams and set loose in Darling Harbour, where we were asked to complete a series of timed challenges. The winners on the day were Ben, Susan, Grace and Rachel.
On Sunday 20 March, Stanley & Williamson took part in the Australian Super Corporate Triathlon. It was an early start, but there was a definite spring in the steps of the standout performers of the day – Ben with a swim of 8 minutes, Quang with a ride time of 14.07 minutes and Ashleigh with a run leg of 11.41 minutes.
Real Room Escape Challenge
On Wednesday 16 March Stanley & Williamson teams took on the Real Room Escape Challenge.
We were blind folded, and locked into darkened rooms without any way of contacting the outside world. Once in the rooms we had to solve a series of codes, riddles and puzzles with only the help of ambiguous clues.
Thank fully we all made it out in once piece.
Last Friday, 11 December, we had our annual staff Christmas party. The theme for the night was dress as someone famous starting with an ‘S’ or a ‘W’ – Slash and a Stormtrooper were deemed the best dressed of the evening, with a raft of other characters and celebrities making an appearance as well.
JP Morgan Corporate Challenge
On Wednesday 11 November, twelve of our team members competed in the JP Morgan Corporate Challenge.
The standout performer on the night was Ashleigh (second from the right), a newcomer to S&W, finishing the 5.6 km run in just 28.13 minutes.
Well done to everyone else for completing the course.
Melbourne Cup 2015
The race that stops the nation, also stopped us yesterday. We all kicked back and enjoyed lunch and drinks on the balcony while watching the race.
The biggest winner of the day was Samuel (our junior accountant), who snapped up the winning horse for one dollar in the Calcutta sweep, and reaped the rewards when it came in first.
On Friday the 16 October, the S&W team took to the harbour on a jet boat. We signed our lives away for half an hour of thrills, three-sixties and nose dives.
None of us were aware that we’d end up soaking wet, but that did not dampen our spirits when we went to the pub for drinks and nibbles afterwards.
Rocks Ghost Tour
On Friday the 28 August, the S&W team ventured to the Rocks to be scared senseless by the Rocks Ghost Tour.
Although no ghostly encounters were made, we enjoyed wandering around the cobblestoned laneways, listening to some true stories and learning of the dark past that has haunted the Rocks.
After the tour, we re-settled our nerves over a meal at the Hero of Waterloo – one of Sydney’s oldest Pubs.
Goodbye 2014/2015 and hello 2015/2016
On Friday 29 May, the S&W crew commandeered a cruise-boat and toured around Sydney harbour to see the spectacular lights of the Vivid festival.
If you haven’t had a chance to see the lights yet, we highly recommend a trip into town.
On Sunday 12 April, Stanley and Williamson the professional accountants, became Stanley and Williamson the elite athletes. Four of our team completed the Australian Super Corporate Triathlon – conquering a 300m swim, an 8km bike ride and a 3km run around the Royal Botanical Gardens. Stand out performers on the day were, Wilson for the swim leg, Sam Baldwin on the bicycle and Quang in the run. Special mention goes also to Kellie for completing the course with a personal best time.
5 December 2014 – Christmas party
Another year, another Christmas party. Continuing on with our themed Christmas parties, this year was the 1920’s. Everyone dressed up and looked fabulous!
Jodee took out best dressed female, and Darren took out best dressed male.
The night kicked-off with drinks and nibbles at the office, and our new staff members performing the annual newbie jingle. This year was a fully choreographed dance to a range of songs including the macarena and the nutbush. This was followed by Kris Kringle, with plenty of innapropriate gifts (one of which is featured above, can you spot it?). Bill took out the top prize for the annual putt putt golfing competition, narrowly beating Michael.
Dinner was at Tharens in Potts Point, where a fabulous lady by the name of Prada entertained us for the evening. There was a lot of dancing involved, and perhaps a drink or two, however luckily everyone was relatively well behaved.
Thanks again to the partners and staff for a wonderful year! The celebrations will continue for the partners as they head off on a wine tour in the Hunter Valley, which was presented to them by the staff for this year’s Christmas gift.
13 December 2013 – Christmas party
Our 2013 Christmas party was a smash hit. The theme was Through the Ages, so staff dressed in fashion from the decade they were born in. We managed to cover the 40s, 60s, 70, 80s and 90s.
It kick started with our new staff bringing out the Christmas cheer with some christmas carols from each decade. This was then followed by our traditional Kris Kringle where everyone received their fair share of gifts from their Secret Santa (some good and some tastefully embarrassing). We then headed off by water taxi to the El-Phoenician restaurant at the delightful Walsh Bay for a delicious feast which included mesmerising entertainment from two beautiful and very talented belly dancers. A few of our staff were invited on stage to show off their belly dancing skills and needless to say, as good as they were at the belly dancing, we’d recommend them to stick with their day job!
The partners were presented with bobble head figurines of ourselves as presents (contributed by all staff) while the staff were given a nice laptop backpack the day before the Christmas party.
13 October 2013 – Barbecue at Lane Cove
This years annual picnic was at Lane Cove National Park on October 13th. It was about 34 degrees, so no barbecue disappointingly. Not to worry though, as our trusty social secretary Jodee quickly organised enough barbecue chickens to feed everyone three times over. As always kids and partners were invited for the day, with the youngest Sam providing welcome entertainment in the form of a water hose.
17 September 2013 – Masterchef competition
The 2013 S&W Masterchef competition was held on the 17th of September, with four teams battling it out for an exclusive spot on the spice-rack trophy. Our theme this year was “Islands of the World”, with teams choosing Manhattan, Singapore (despite some contest as to whether or not is was truly an island), Great Britain and Fiji.
Lunch was delicious, as always, and there was some fierce competition for the title. Team Tipsy Taxis sporting Manhattan cuisine rightfully one best overall team and best team name, with Waldorf Salad (with a twist), thin crust pizza and New York Cheesecake with cosmopolitans. Great Britain scored two awards despite being down two players, Katie awarded best dessert for her Banoffee Pie, and Ben for his Butter Chicken. Despite Bill threatening staff with a sinister looking weapon, his team’s Fijian banquet lucked out. Better luck next year!
